GIAB wants to play a decisive role in the transformation towards becoming a circular economy. It is, therefore, essential that we are actively involved in the research and development work that is currently being performed, both nationally and internationally. One of the most important projects in which GIAB is participating is a research programme called REES, which you can read more about below.
REES
GIAB is taking part in a research programme entitled REES (Resource-Efficient and Effective Solutions), which is based on the philosophy of the circular economy. This project is funded by MISTRA and was launched on 1 August 2015.
The purpose of this initiative is to apply knowledge and innovative thinking in order to promote the development of a circular economy, which entails a society based upon the closed, cyclical flow of materials.
In addition to Lund University, Linköping University and Chalmers University of Technology, the consortium also includes several companies. Besides GIAB, other companies that are involved include Volvo Group, Stena Recycling AB and HTC Sweden.
IIIEE – LUND UNIVERSITY
We enjoy a close collaboration with Lund University and the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE). With GIAB’s unique business concept and business model, which builds entirely upon a circular economy, this is a very interesting subject to study. On several occasions, students have conducted project work at GIAB, including life-cycle analyses of the circular products. Once per year, GIAB also welcomes students from University of Virginia who come to conduct their project work with the company.
